SARAH Sanders made her career breakthrough in politics when she became President Donald Trump’s Press Secretary.
Sanders is the third woman to hold the role. Here’s her history.
Who is Sarah Huckabee Sanders?
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, born August 13, 1985, is the youngest and only daughter of three children.
Born in Hope, Arkansas, to Mike and Janet (née McCain) Huckabee, she became active in politics from a very young age thanks to her parents.
Mike unsuccessfully ran for US Senate in 1999 before becoming the 44th governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007.
Sarah, 35, met husband Bryan Sanders during her dad’s 2008 presidential campaign.
Sarah was the campaign’s field director and Bryan was hired as a media consultant
The pair wed in 2010 and now have three children together.
Her mum served as the First Lady of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007.
What did she say about CNN’s Jim Acosta?
At a post-midterms press conference on Wednesday, November 7, Jim Acosta was called “rude” by Trump, who also said he was an “enemy of the people” for reporting “fake news” on CNN.
During this spat, a White House intern was instructed to remove Mr Acosta’s microphone, and the female intern’s arm made contact with the reporter’s arm.
The press secretary has spoken out about this incident, saying that Mr Acosta put his hands on the intern who was “just trying to do her job”.
She tweeted a video of the supposed handling, although there have been reports that the video was edited to make it look more aggressive.
Sanders wrote: “We stand by our decision to revoke this individual’s hard pass. We will not tolerate the inappropriate behavior clearly documented in this video.”
Sanders also tweeted a thread about what happened, stating: “This conduct is absolutely unacceptable. It is also completely disrespectful to the reporter’s colleagues not to allow them an opportunity to ask a question.”
She added: “The fact that CNN is proud of the way their employee behaved is not only disgusting, it‘s an example of their outrageous disregard for everyone, including young women, who work in this Administration.”
What did Sanders say about Trump’s alleged collusion with Michael Cohen?
In August 2018 President Trump’s former lawyer and confidant Michael Cohen implicated the President in a federal crime.
In extraordinary scenes, Cohen pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws by paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and playboy bunny Karen McDougal days before the 2016 election.
They allegedly had affairs with Donald Trump while he was married.
But Cohen stunned the Manhattan court when he said he was directed by Trump to break the law and pay the women.
He said: “I participated in this conduct, which on my part took place in Manhattan, for the principal purpose of influencing the election”.
But speaking the next day, Ms Sanders denied on Trump’s behalf that he gave any order to Cohen to make the payment.
She said: “As the President has said and we’ve stated many times, he did nothing wrong.
“There are no charges against him and we’ve commented on it extensively.
“Just because Michael Cohen made a plea deal, doesn’t implicate the President on anything.”
Why was she ejected from the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington?
Sanders was booted from the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia on June 23, 2018.
She said she was asked to leave because she worked for President Trump.
Writing on the official Press Secretary Twitter account, Sanders said: “Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left.”
She added: “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”
The owner of the Red Hen confirmed the incident and said she stood by her decision to refuse service to Sanders, the Washington Post reported.
Stephanie Wilkinson said: “Absolutely, yes. We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions.”
Sanders’ treatment at the restaurant created a social media commotion with her dad tweeting:
“Bigotry. On the menu at Red Hen Restaurant in Lexington VA. Or you can ask for the ‘Hate Plate’.
“And appetizers are ‘small plates for small minds’.”

How long has she worked for Donald Trump?
Sarah’s dad Mike is one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters.
Huckabee initially stood against Trump during the 2008 election, but quickly ran behind him when he didn’t win votes.
After managing her father’s failed presidential campaign, she signed on as a senior adviser for Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, handling the Trump campaign’s communications for coalitions.
She then became Trump’s Deputy Press Secretary after he was elected, before becoming chief.
