A MAN who had his nipple removed by the “Dr Evil” tattooist convicted of GBH has told how he was “really happy” with the work – and that it had even improved the quality of his life.

Brendan McCarthy was found guilty of three counts of GBH after splitting a woman’s tongue, slicing off a nipple and removing an ear with his customers’ consent at his tattoo parlour in Wolverhampton.

But Nick Pinch – whose nipple was operated on – has leaped to McCarthy’s defence.

Speaking in a pre-recorded interview on BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine show, Nick said: “It was painful, just like any procedure, but sometimes you have to go through pain to be beautiful, so they say.

“Great care was taken during the procedure, he was talking to me the whole way through making sure I was OK.”

Mr Pinch, who runs a body piercing business in Devon, added: “If I ever wanted to stop I could stop and, you know, he was really considerate and the results were fantastic.

“My quality of life now is so much better.”

McCarthy, 50, was charged with the offences back in 2017 for three incidents at Dr Evil’s Body Modification Emporium between 2012 and 2015.

Speaking at Wolverhampton Crown Court, Judge Amjad Nawaz told the defendant yesterday: “These are serious matters and ordinarily the sentence of custody would be inevitable but there are differences in this particular case and we will deal with them at a later date.”

The original pleas of not guilty were based on the fact the three alleged ‘victims’ had each consented to what happened but Judge Nawaz ruled that consent was not a defence to a criminal charge.

This was upheld after the defence took an appeal to the High Court where the case was heard by three judges who ruled that the procedures were not comparable to tattoos and piercings.

They maintained it was not in the public interest that somebody could wound another for no good reason.

McCarthy, who is currently forbidden from carrying out any body modification procedure, will return to court for sentencing on March 21.
